I’ve found Thai Massage is one of the hottest forms of massage being offered in most of the spas I’ve visited. It began in Thailand and was developed by by the buddist monks as a method of healing over 2500 years ago. With a combination of mild pressure along the body’s energy lines and reflexive stretching to boost flexibility, ease joint and muscle tension, stabilizing the body’s energy systems.
Firstly Thai massage takes place with your CLOTHES ON. Loose fitting and comfy, like sweat pants. Some spas will offer the correct garments to wear. Thai massage starts on the floor, laying on your back. Beginning with your legs the therapist uses moderate compression and stretching methods to open up your body. People say its like doing yoga without the effort because the therapist will push your body into all the various positions without any work on your part. The therapist uses their whole body, including feet to mold your body into different positions. I find this to be a closer massage method than A Swedish massage, where you lay on a massage table and are covered with sheets. Thai massage is a divine tradition, and its purpose is to heal a person physically, emotionally and spiritually.
